What I’m up to…

It has been a big couple of months for me! After more than six years at Norwich University’s Kreitzberg Library, first as Distance Learning Librarian and then as Head of Digital Services, I joined the University of Michigan Library Information Technology division as a User Experience Specialist in late October. My position is part of the newly formed Design & Discovery unit. I contribute to all areas of user experience work, but am focused on content and information architecture…which basically means I am geeking out 99.9% of the time.

Shortly after I started at U-M, the wonderful Christina Czuhajewski asked if she could interview me for a Hack Library School series. So You Want to be a UX Librarian? went up last week and she made me look very clever!

Part two of the Weave UX Digital Panel I participated in earlier this year was also posted recently. It was such an awesome experience and I really love everything the folks at Weave are doing for both UX work in libraries and re-envisioning what peer-reviewed publication looks like.

I also have a few fun talks coming up in early 2016…

  • So incredibly excited to present a Deep Dive workshop at ALA Midwinter in Boston with Courtney McDonald, Pete Coco, Deirdre Costello and Lauren McKeen.
  • Looking forward to sharing Strategies for Effective Web Writing in a LibraryLinkNJ webinar.
  • Cannot wait to reunite with my buds Beth Filar Williams, Carrie Moran and John Jackson for the second act of our ACRL presentation on online teams for a LLAMA webinar in February.
